Our Growing Story

At Flora & Flame, every plant is nurtured with care. We're a small team of craft cannabis cultivators based in Oakland, California. We grow flower the way it's supposed to be grown: in living soil, by hand, pesticide free, with no shortcuts and no synthetic inputs.

Every plant is nurtured from seed to harvest in our indoor no-till facility. Every bud is hand-trimmed and hand-packaged. We don't use machines because machines don't give a f*ck about trichomes.

We're not trying to be the biggest cannabis brand in California. We're trying to grow the best flower we can, batch after batch, and work with retail partners who understand the difference.

Our indoor facility in Oakland runs on living soil: a self-sustaining ecosystem of microbes, organic matter, and biology that feeds the plant the way the earth always has. Every batch is grown by hand, trimmed by hand, and packaged by hand by a small team that cares about what ends up in the jar.

We're not chasing volume. We're chasing quality, and we're looking for retail partners who know the difference.

Living Soil, Not Just Organic

We're a no-till organic living soil facility. That's not marketing language, it's our entire cultivation philosophy.

Living soil is an ecosystem. Beneficial bacteria, mycorrhizal fungi, and microorganisms colonize the root zone and feed the plant while triggering its natural defense systems. When plants sense these microbes, they ramp up terpene production.

The result: richer flavor, fuller effects, and flower that tastes clean because nothing synthetic ever touched it.

The Science Part (If You Care)

Most cannabis is grown hydroponically: plants suspended in inert media, fed synthetic liquid nutrients. It's fast and it's scalable, but it's also one-dimensional.

Living soil works differently. The microbial ecosystem unlocks nutrients the plant can't access alone, provides metabolic fuel for high terpene synthesis, and triggers induced systemic resistance that leads to higher cannabinoid and flavonoid production.

Chemical fertilizers feed plants directly. Living soil feeds the microbes that feed your plants while activating the biological processes that create complex, diverse terpene profiles.

Translation: better flavor, better effects, flower that stays fresh longer.
